End of year teacher gifts

I asked a lot of teachers what they liked best as a teacher gift from their students and all of them said they love gift certificates and hand-made items. So, David and I decided to do both for his teachers and his bus driver. I used the <icecrm6> cut on the cards option. It was cut at 7 inches. The gift card fit perfectly inside. The patterned paper is DCWV Grade School stack and Confetti card stock made by Astrobright. I used Studio G's series 1 alphabet set for the words, Color Box ink, and Craft Essentials embossing powder.

Sugar plums dancing...

My favorite artist, Mo Manning, put out  a call for designers for her dream team. Her drawings are so beautiful and are so inspiring to me. This little gal is called "Little Sugar Plum Fairy". She is my submission for the dream team call. It is a dream of mine to design with such a talented group of artists. Wish me luck!!!  I colored this sweet little lady at the last crop we had honoring our friend, Jacque Crowe, who passes away recently from Colon Cancer.  I made my own background on the card with a stencil and the airbrush system with my Copic Markers.  I am liking the effect!!!  It helps it all match up nicely.  I also colored my gems with the copics.  Saves a lot of money when you don't have to buy twenty different colors of things!!!  The ribbon is from my stash, as are the sequins.  The pearls are from Amuse Studios.  I printed the little fairy girl from my printer using HP ink on Neenah paper.

The Seven Dwarves

I decided to do the seven dwarves. I first cut out the dwarves with my Cricut on black paper and then cut out each individual piece in white so that I could color them with my Copic markers.

After I colored the pieces I put them all together and began designing the background with their cottage, flowers and jewels. I airbrushed the flowers and plants and accented with jewels using my Irock tool. I only buy the clear gems and use my Copics to color them the color to match my project.

I had a lot of fun with this project!! I will soon be opening my own etsy shop to sell any items that I post. Any item I post can be ordered and we can discuss payment at the time of ordering.

Snow White

First off, let me apologize for taking so long to publish a new post!!  Life has been busy in this house!!!!  I promise to have at least one post each week of past and current projects!!

I love my Cricut!!  Especially the Disney characters and the Paper Dolls series.  I got tired of trying to find the perfect flesh tone for these cuts in cardstock and thought that I could do a better job myself with my Copic markers.  I believe I found some success!!  and had fun in the process!!!

I have a friend who took her little girl to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  I thought that I would make her a few layouts for her photos and keepsakes.  I have only made a few layouts, but have many more planned out.

I started with Snow White.  At first, I just did the flesh tones with the markers and used colored card stock for the rest of the cuts.  Here is the first lay out that I made:

While I liked the way it looked, I have never been happy with the flat look of plain colored  cardstock.  I wanted depth and texture!!!  So, I took my copics and did this:

Even the colored cardstock looks better with some shading added to it!!!

Welcome!!!

Since this is my first post, I thought that I would let you know a little bit about me.  I was raised in small town Ohio in a large family.  I am the baby, so, of course, I got everything I wanted.  haha.  I always loved art class the most, even if I wasn't the most talented or had the best eye!!  I just loved putting things together, or drawing, coloring, painting, cutting and pasting.  My grandmother taught me how to cross stitch which is a true love of mine, and a friend introduced me to rubber stamping and making cards.  And another friend introduced me to the Cricut, and another to Copic Markers!!  Now I like to combine all whenever I can to create gifts, cards, layouts, home decor, and anything else I can think of.  I moved to Vancouver, Washington, in 2000 and fell in love with the volcanoes, the rain, the green, and the man I came out here to meet.  We got married in February 2004 and had our one and only miracle child in 2006.  Andy, my husband, is the love of my life, and David, my son, is the light of my life.  They both show so much patience with me and my creative messes I make!!  I took over the spare bedroom in our house a few years ago and it has slowly filled to the point of overflowing into the garage and the rest of the house.  I promised that this year, I would seriously start using my products and not buying as much.  I also promised to get serious about blogging my stuff.  I have so many projects that I want to share.  I am excited in this new venture and hope that you enjoy it as I know I will!!!
